Latitude Financial Cyber Attack

Important info for those affected by the Latitude Financial Cyber Attack.

In March this year, Latitude Financial Services (Latitude) experienced a cyber-attack that resulted in existing and former customers having their personal information stolen. Some of its customer-facing services were initially suspended while they responded to it, but they are operational now.

Has your personal information has been stolen?

Latitude has contacted all customers who have had their personal information stolen to tell them what information was stolen and how it will assist them. It has partnered with IDCARE, a national identity and cyber support service, to help support those impacted. You can find out more here or call 0800 121 068 and use referral code LAT23.

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC) is investigating the privacy breach at Latitude. If you’ve been told your personal information was stolen, the OPC suggests you first contact Latitude and IDCARE for support.

If you think your stolen personal information has been used, the OPC encourages you to make a complaint to it by emailing latitude.breach@privacy.org.nz.

The OPC message for Latitude customers is to be hyper vigilant. In particular, keep a close eye on your accounts for any unusual activity. Work with your banks and telco providers and consider checking your credit record.
