House in disrepair, no fire cover

After a fire damaged his rental property, Chris’ claim was declined, and his policy avoided. Chris hadn’t disclosed that the house was in disrepair and the subject of a Dangerous Building Notice. Chris and his property manager knew about the problems and had received the notice – they had failed to disclose material information, and the insurer was entitled to avoid the policy.

Complaint not upheld.
